Technical hands join procuratorial teams to help in IP-related cases2025-02-14

The first batch consisting of 60 technical investigators covering various fields have joined the country's procuratorial teams to help deal with intellectual property cases, China's top procuratorate said.

These investigators, including those majoring in telecommunication, chemistry, materials, medicines and biology, will play their role in handling technical issues in IP-related cases, according to Procuratorate Daily, the official news outlet of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, on Sunday.

Hiring these investigators is to improve prosecutors' abilities to resolve technical problems, because about 60 percent of IP-related cases involve technologies, the SPP said.

It noted that the hired investigators all have worked in their technical fields for over five years, adding that the term of their appointment is five years and can be renewed.

It is not the first time that China's judicial authorities have hired such investigators.

Previously, the nation's IP specialized courts in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong province had invited technical investigators as their expert advisers to help judges understand technical knowledge in IP-related disputes, so as to improve efficiency and accuracy of the case handling.
